VLSP 2023 - Call for papers and participation

The Tenth Workshop on Vietnamese Language and Speech Processing (VLSP 2023)

Workshop date: Dec 15-16, 2023

Venue: The Laurent Schwartz Lecture Hall, Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM), 157 Chua Lang, Dong Da, Hanoi, Vietnam

Workshop objectives

The goal of this workshop series is to attempt a synthesis of research in Vietnamese language and speech processing and to bring together researchers and professionals working in this domain. Since the VLSP 2016 edition, VLSP workshops are composed of two technical parts: one part focused on scientific papers and VLSP software demonstration, the other dedicated to an evaluation campaign on different tasks of text and speech processing; and a panel organized for the VLSP members to exchange and discuss the development of the community.

Workshop topics

We call for original papers in any area related to the workshop scope, including:

  • Language resource construction and use
  • Methods and models for speech, language and multimodal data processing
  • NLP evaluation methodologies
  • NLP apllications

Accepted papers will be published in a special issue of the Journal of Computer Science and Cybernetics.

Software demonstration

All applications dealing with Vietnamese text processing or speech processing are welcome. Each demo system should be provided with a technical report.

Evaluation campaign

VLSP shared-tasks aim at promoting the most efficient methods for VLSP tools. The organization of these campaigns with sponsorships from academia and industry permit to build and offer to the VLSP community gold datasets for training and testing Vietnamese text and speech processing systems.

The participants to the evaluation campaign will be asked to present their system in a dedicated technical paper.

Shared-task registration

Intended participants are invited to fill in a separate form for each VLSP 2023 shared-task. They will receive an user agreement to sign before the date of data release. Please follow the link to the description of each shared-task for details.

Paper submission

We do not have a strict requirement about page limit. However, all teams are recommended to submit a paper from 4 to 8 pages, in English. Please note that the VLSP 2023 submissions include papers presenting software submitted for demonstration or evaluation or scientific papers discussing research in Vietnamese language and speech processing. All papers will be submitted online, in PDF format using the ACL Anthology standard template, to the paper management website.
